Update: Maple Leaf workers ratified a new contract in early January 2026. The five-year agreement will see $3.75 increases over the life of the contract. The defined benefit pension plan was saved for existing employees, but new hires will be on a defined contribution plan. “Although I’m disappointed in how the vote turned out, we’ve laid a lot of groundwork to get more people united,” Maria* shared. “In five years, we’ll get a better contract and a better showing of unity.”
