Attribution & Sources

Last Updated: October 30, 2025

1. Our Commitment to Attribution

LEFT Network is built on respect for original content creators and publishers. We are committed to:

  • Clear and prominent attribution of all content to its original source
  • Linking directly to publisher websites for full articles
  • Displaying publication dates and author information when available
  • Using only minimal excerpts necessary for content identification
  • Maintaining source branding and identity in our presentations

2. Content Sources

All articles, videos, and content displayed on LEFT Network are sourced from publicly available RSS feeds and APIs published by news organizations, media outlets, podcasters, and content creators. We aggregate content from:

  • Independent news websites and blogs
  • Progressive and left-leaning media outlets
  • YouTube channels and podcasts
  • Online magazines and journals
  • Other curated sources aligned with our mission

3. Fair Use and News Aggregation

Our use of titles, short excerpts, and thumbnail images constitutes fair use under U.S. copyright law for the purpose of news aggregation and commentary. We:

  • Do not republish full articles or substantial portions
  • Limit excerpts to ≤120 characters for identification purposes
  • Use reduced-size thumbnail images
  • Always link to the original content
  • Provide clear source attribution
  • Drive traffic to publishers' sites

4. Source Data

Each item displayed on LEFT Network includes:

  • Source Name: The publisher or content creator
  • Publication Date: When the content was originally published
  • Direct Link: A clickable link to the original content
  • Author: When provided in the source feed

5. Tracking and Analytics

When you click links on LEFT Network, we may:

  • Add UTM parameters for our analytics (e.g., utm_source=left.network)
  • Record the click for popularity metrics and fraud prevention
  • Include affiliate parameters for certain merchant links (see our Terms of Service)

These tracking parameters help publishers understand their referral traffic and help us improve our service. They do not alter the content you see on the publisher's site.

6. YouTube and Video Content

For YouTube videos, we use official YouTube embedding and display methods that:

  • Use YouTube's official player and APIs
  • Display channel names and video titles as provided by creators
  • Link directly to YouTube for full viewing experience
  • Comply with YouTube's Terms of Service and branding guidelines

7. For Publishers and Content Creators

If you are a publisher or content creator:

  • To be included: We discover content through public RSS feeds. If you'd like to ensure proper representation, contact us at sources@left.network
  • To request removal: We respect opt-out requests. Email dmca@left.network and we'll remove your content promptly
  • To update information: If we're displaying incorrect attribution or outdated info, let us know at sources@left.network

8. Bias and Transparency Data

LEFT Network may display bias ratings and source assessments from third-party services such as AllSides.com or Ad Fontes Media. These ratings are:

  • Provided for informational purposes
  • Not our own assessments
  • Clearly attributed to their source
  • Subject to the methodologies of the rating organization
